 February Diary

TO MY FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS,

In brief I want to share with you some of the things I have been doing since I came to Africa and some Praise Notes of what God has done.  Read, Rejoice and Pray with me!

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS DAVID AKAJI DOING?

Well, since I came here I have been preaching/teaching God's word every Sunday (sometimes two services).  I speak to students and staff almost every day during the chapel services.  I have interviewed every one of our teachers, pastors, and staff (35 in all) in Ghana. I have had one long but very productive Administrative Council meeting, and one faculty meeting.  It was simply a time of evaluation and encouragement.  Everyone is refreshed and a new spirit and vigor for "Nothing Short of Success" has been born.

I travelled to Nigeria on February 13, visited and preached at three of our local churches, spoke to 14 of our 17 pastors, talked with three of the widows and their children and dedicated our new property in Makurdi, Benue State.  I returned to Ghana on Saturday the 21st. to continue with many activities which I will be reporting on in the weeks ahead.

PRAISE NOTES!!

NEW TOILETS FOR 270 PEOPLE ON CAMPUS

I am happy to inform you that God has provided the funds for the new toilets in Ghana.  As soon as I sent out my report two weeks ago, a supporter felt God speaking to him about helping us with the project.  The entire staff and students rejoiced as I announced the gift to them.  Right now construction has begun and pictures are attached for you.  I praise God for answering this prayer.  What an encouragement!!

MINISTRY LAND IN NIGERIA

I am pleased to inform you that the new property in Nigeria was dedicated on Wednesday, February 18.  See the dedication picture attached.  The Scriptural basis for the dedication is Joshua 1:3; "Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you" and Psalms 127:1; "Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it."

We want to construct a church building with a capacity of 500; with 12 classrooms, rooms for nursery, primary school, a church office, and a counseling center for the AIDS victims.  We are counting on God to provide the funds needed for the development of the land.  Let me know if you or someone you know would like to invest in this project.

CHURCH CLINIC

I am thrilled to report to you that our little, inadequately equipped clinic which I dedicated and opened just 14 months ago is making a big impact in the Okpafulo village.  Joy Adagba, the nurse-in-charge happily informed me that since the opening they have had 62 births, 40 circumcisions, 6 surgeries, many accident victims, blood transfusions, and HIV tests.  I am very impressed!!  This is the only clinic in this village and we want to equip it to adequately provide for the health needs of this area.  Would you please let us know if you are aware of any medical doctor who would like to give 3 days or a week in the village doing medical ministry for the people?

TRAVEL MERCIES

Thank God for journey mercies He is giving me on this trip.  On Friday February 20, on my way from Makurdi to Abuja, we ran into a band of Muslims worshiping on the main highway.  They moved away from their Mosque and sat in the middle of the road covering a distance of almost 2 miles.   There was no way to pass.  And you dare not do anything that will anger them either by the way you look at them or by trying to force yourself past them.  We had to slowly take a 30-minute detour to get past.   Thank you for praying!

BLESSINGS ON THE WIDOWS

I was pleased to talk with one of the widows we supported a few years back and find out that her business is now expanding.  She is happy and so am I.  That ?poverty,' ?pity me' look is gone!  She is vibrantly serving God.  Thank you, Jesus, for allowing us to be your hand extended to the needy.

PRAYER REQUEST!

Pray for the Travel and Budget Costs.  We are yet to receive full coverage for this trip and budget expenses for this month.  In my last update I indicated that we need $3,500 for my trip expenses and $4,000 for the African Region Budget.   I believe that what we are doing is sowing seed in fertile ground.  Please help me pray that God will provide for this need and bless anyone who will help us.  Anything will go a long way to help!

Pray for anointing, protection and wisdom as I lead this work to another level of impact on this continent.

Pray that God will breathe a breath of encouragement on our pastors, teachers, and staff.

Pray that our students will have a receptive heart for the word of God.

TO YOU!

And to you I say, thank you for praying and giving!!  Here is what I can tell from my vantage point.  Our ministry in Africa is at a tipping point.  All we need is a little push to launch out.  I personally invite you to be a part of what God is doing here!  God willing, you will hear from me next week.

Yours in His service,

Dr. David Akaji
