Ignorance is no Excuse

Read Ephesians 4:17-31, Proverbs 24:12-14

"God overlooked people's former ignorance about these things, but now he commands everyone everywhere to turn away from idols and turn to him." Acts 17:30

One of the basic tenets of our legal system is that "ignorance of the law is no excuse

Although God judges unintentional and sins of ignorance less severely the fact remains that ignorance is no excuse with God.

God has put the awareness of and desire to know Him in the hearts of all people.

"From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities?his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God." (Romans 1:20)

God has revealed himself through Jesus Christ, the Living Word and commissioned all of His followers to spread the gospel throughout the world. He wants everyone to have the opportunity to be saved through faith in Jesus Christ.

God's call to salvation is a call to getting to know Jesus through a close and personal relationship of getting to know Him through His Word.

God is long suffering, patient, and kind. He will reveal more and more of himself to us as we trust and obey what He does reveal in the ongoing process of Holy transformation through which He is continually making us more like Christ.

Once we have been born again and received our new life in Christ, we have no excuse for wandering back into the ignorance of our past sinful life.

Our new life in Christ is a living growing life of overcoming ignorance through growing in the knowledge of the Lord of our Life.

Father, replace my ignorance with your truth through the power of the Holy Spirit living within me.  In Jesus' name, Amen

"If you [profess ignorance and] say, Behold, we did not know this, does not He who weighs and ponders the heart perceive and consider it? And He who guards your life, does not He know it? And shall not He render to [you and] every man according to his works?" Proverbs 24:12 AMP

"Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything?and I do mean everything?connected with that old way of life has to go"
Ephesians 4:22 MSG
